ASSOCIATIONS and ORGANIZATIONS



BELIZE CITRUS GROWERS ASSOCIATION - A non governmental, non-profit organization charged with representing the interests of the Citrus Industry in Belize. The Association provides cost price services, administers preferential loan schemes and conducts research and extension programs for growers.

CARIBBEAN COMMUNITY CLIMATE CHANGE CENTRE – The Caribbean Community Climate Change Centre coordinates the Caribbean region's response to climate change and acts as a central source for information on climate change issues and on the region's response to managing and adapting to climate change in the Caribbean.

CHIQUIBUL MAYA MOUNTAINS –The Chiquibul-Maya Mountain Program is an exciting, innovative endeavor to protect the most important block of tropical forest in Belize, Central America. This block consists of an agglomeration of fourteen protected area sub-units. The purpose of this endeavor is to develop and implement a comprehensive and integrated sustainable management program primarily for the core conservation areas of the Chiquibul-Maya Mountain block.

ENVIRONMENTAL RESEARCH INSTITUTE –The Environmental Research Institute (ERI), the newest department of the University of Belize (UB), was inaugurated in January 2010. The Institute was created primarily to address the large gap in local capacity for research and monitoring that exists within Belize. Belize has a wealth of natural resources, including the longest barrier reef in the Western Hemisphere, which supports the country's most important industries, including tourism and agriculture.

GLOVER'S REEF MARINE RESERVE - A research station run by Wildlife Conservation Society. Open since 1997, Glover's Reef Marine Reserve and World Heritage site has hosted more than 100 scientific expeditions and serves as a platform for many researchers and students. Located on Middle Caye, Glover's Reef Atoll, the station's mission is to promote long-term conservation and management of the Belize’s Barrier Reef Complex.

OUR LADY OF GUADALUPE MERCY CENTER BELIZE - Located in the Sisters of Mercy Convent Building, Belize City is a non profit Spiritual Life Center offering hospitality in the spirit of Mercy within a peaceful and tranquil environment with opportunities for prayer, spiritual direction, counseling, retreats, workshops and sessions on self help, scripture and spirituality.

NATIONAL GARIFUNA COUNCIL OF BELIZE – A non-governmental organization representing the indigenous Garifuna people of Belize. Our mission is to preserve, strengthen and develop our culture as well as promote economic development of the Garifuna people.

SUSTAINABLE TOURISM PROGRAM - The Belize Sustainable Tourism Program (STP) is a response to the challenges that must be faced if Belize's tourism sector is to grow in a manner that is economically, environmentally and socially sustainable. The intention is to strengthen the sector's contribution to the national economy by consolidating the overnight tourism market.

THE BELIZE ZOO - The Belize Zoo and tropical Education Center was started in 1983 and is today settled on 29 acres of tropical savanna and exhibits over 125 animals all native to Belize.
